Yas Island, 14 November 2010 - Five wins and a total of ten podiums for Fernando Alonso in his first year with Scuderia Ferrari Marlboro and five podiums for team-mate Felipe Massa: a fantastic and competitive season for the Maranello squad, but all the same, so soon after the final chequered flag in the Abu Dhabi night, it is hard to come to terms with the fact that Fernando Alonso missed out on taking the Drivers’ title by just five points. We always kept believing in ourselves – no matter what people said – in the team and in our car. I kept believing in myself and today was a special day all round. I got up this morning and tried not to think about anything; I tried to avoid contact with people and just tried to do my own thing. I knew all I could try to do was win this race and do my best. Abu Dhabi Grand Prix, Sunday

14/11/2010
Robert Kubica, P5 Fastest lap: 1:41.753
Robert: It was a very good race to round off the season. I had a problem with a clutch at the start, and I was running in 14th position after turn two. When the Safety Car went in, I managed to overtake Sutil, which was important. I then found myself stuck behind Kamui (Kobayashi), who was braking very late which made it difficult to attack him. Eventually, I got a run on him out of turn nine and he covered the inside for turn 11 – so I was able to pass round the outside. That was a key moment, and afterwards I just concentrated on getting the maximum from the car and setting quick laps. The car was still difficult to drive this afternoon, but I pushed really hard because I had nothing to lose – and I’m very pleased to finish fifth after starting 11th.

An excellent drive by Nico Rosberg today saw him finish in fourth place at the final race of the season in Abu Dhabi. Michael Schumacher was out of the race on the first lap after spinning and subsequently being hit by another car.
A good strategy call from the team to bring Nico in under the safety car on the first lap to switch to the harder prime tyres put him in a great position on track and an assured drive from there allowed Nico to make up six places on his starting position.

Although neither Rubens Barrichello nor Nico Hulkenberg managed a points finish, the team ensured that their nearest rivals were behind them at the finish in order to cover any eventualities. Both Lewis and Jenson drove superbly in qualifying today, and will line up second and fourth on tomorrow’s grid as a result.
In fact Lewis missed out on bagging pole position by just three-hundredths of a second – and inevitably you’re always just a smidgen disappointed when it’s as close as that at the front.

Abu Dhabi GP – Qualifying

Saturday 13.11.2010
Weather: dry, 17-30°C Air, 32-43°C Track
After a difficult second session on Friday, the team managed to improve the cars for Saturday in Abu Dhabi. Things were already a lot better in third free practice. In the qualifying for the last Grand Prix of the 2010 season Kamui Kobayashi came 12th, while Nick Heidfeld was 14th. Neither driver was a hundred percent happy, with Kobayashi having some trouble with the brake balance and Heidfeld knowing, in hindsight, another lap would have helped to get the maximum grip level out of the tyres.

Round 19 - Abu Dhabi GP Free Practice

12 November 2010
The first day of practice for this weekend’s Abu Dhabi Grand Prix started wetter than expected when a rain shower soaked the track before the first session, but it soon began to dry as the hot sunshine returned.
Lucas and Timo did their installation laps on Extreme Wet tyres to evaluate the conditions but the track was too damp for slicks, and too dry for Intermediates, so the team opted to carry out a back to back aero comparison on Timo’s car while most teams waited for the sun to dry the surface. Consequently the session itself was very quiet, until the track was dry enough to set representative times in the last half hour. Timo finished the session 19th, fastest of the new teams, Lucas was 21st.

Unusually for this desert-fronted country, rain fell in the mid morning, leaving the 5.554km track wet and very slippery. As a result the Force India F1 Team condensed most of its work into the dry 'afternoon' session, run in the twilight under the circuit's state-of-the-art light system. Brazilian GP Free Practice 1 and 2

Friday, 5 November 2010
Car 5 SEBASTIAN VETTEL
1st Practice P1, 2nd Practice P1
“I think it was pretty good today – of course it’s not the most important thing to be at the top of the timing list today, it’s more important tomorrow and Sunday – but it’s a good start.
The car feels alright, I’m not one hundred percent happy with the balance and think we can improve it, but it’s looking okay. I think it’s likely to rain tomorrow.”

2010 BRAZILIAN GRAND PRIX

FRIDAY 05/11/10
Sebastien Buemi, (STR5-03)
“The day went quite smoothly, apart from a problem with the brakes at the start of the afternoon session. When you brake at the end of the straight and the pedal goes long, it’s not a nice feeling so I came straight back to the pits. Well done to the team for fixing the problem so quickly. After that I was able to finish my programme, getting a good read on the tyres over the long run with both the Option and the Prime tyres. They say it will rain tomorrow, which means it will be a completely different story. We now need to look for ways in which we can improve for tomorrow.”

Hispania Racing, HRT F1 Team, ready to carry on achieving positive results in Brazil

Brazil, Thursday 04th November 2010
With only two races left, the Formula 1 Championship heads off to the Autodromo José Carlos Pace in Interlagos, one of the most exciting and defiant tracks on the calendar. Situated on the outskirts of Sao Paulo city, the region is located between two large artificial lakes, the Guarapiranga and the Billings, built in the early 20th century to supply water and electric power to the city. The 4.309 km lap is a physical challenge for the drivers, who have to race anti-clockwise, like in Turkey and Singapore, on a bumpy surface that causes major vibrations in the car. The high altitude of the track and the low air density will drop the engine’s power a bit and make it difficult for everyone. The grandstands are always full of Brazilian enthusiastic fans as it’s always one of the most expected races of the season.

The challenge of Interlagos

Interlagos may be one of the shorter laps on the calendar at just over 4.3km, but there's no shortage of challenges for the drivers and engineers. With one of the longest straights of the season, combined with slow hairpins and a couple of high-speed corners, finding the sweet spot at Interlagos is all about making the right set-up compromise.

Vitaly: “It will be great to experience Interlagos for real”

1 november 2010
Vitaly, how are you approaching the next race at Interlagos?
When you have tough races like Japan and Korea, you can't wait to get back in the car to forget those bad memories, so I'm really looking forward to Interlagos. But it's difficult to know what to expect because I've never been to Brazil before and it's another new challenge for me. It's a famous circuit because there have been so many great races there, especially in the last few years with the championship being decided. I remember watching these races on television so it will be great to experience it for real.

Robert: “Anything can happen at Interlagos”

1 november 2010
Robert, let's look back on Korea. What were your thoughts on the race?
For me it felt like the race was divided in two halves. The first part was very difficult because I had big problems with the overall grip and I struggled to keep the car on the track. In the second half I gained quite a lot of ground when my tyres were in better shape for the last ten or 15 laps of the race. I managed to finish fifth, which was a good reward for our efforts. Of course we would like to be more competitive, but I think overall we have to be happy to have scored a good amount of points after the difficulty we had at the start of the race.
